The patterns you will find here are totally wearable, come with easy to follow instructions and have a fantastic size range.

I have been lucky enough to join the Designer Stitch Anniversary Tour, If you look at the end of this post you will see links to all the other contributors on the tour. You can get a real feel for how the patterns look once they have been made up by real people!

I have chosen the Willow Kimono. Being a British size 18 (USA 16/AU size 18) I have some parts of my figure id rather cover up……….My Bingo wings (ARMS) These Kimonos are perfect for covering up the Arms and if they are made in a light billowy fabric they will not add bulk and can keep you cool on balmy summer days………Yes, sometimes we get “Balmy weather” in Northern Ireland.

I loved this pattern as soon as I saw it. there are three hemline variations which will suit absolutely any occasion. I choose the curved hem, It is a a perfect length to cover any lumpy behinds but not so long as to swamp a more petite frame.  My bust measurement suggested I should have cut a size 7. However I measured the actual pattern pieces and decided Id cut a size 4.Its a perfect fit and I’m glad I down sized.

I used a Chiffon fabric in a soft pink with water painted flowers on it. I wanted a soft billowy silhouette and chiffon is the perfect choice. I sourced the fabric from a great Belfast store who historically stocked curtain and upholstery fabrics but now are stocking more and more dress making fabrics.Mad About Fabrics.

The French seams used in the construction of this piece are beautiful and make for a really well finished item

I thoroughly enjoyed this project and look forward to making some more Designer Stitch Pieces.
